Toronto 2015 gymnastics qualification was settled at a single competition, the 2014 Pan American Gymnastics Championships in Mississauga, Ontario. The union turned the results into four lists in September 2014 — men's artistic, women's artistic, rhythmic and trampoline — and 176 places went to 24 nations. This page brings the four together; each discipline has its own page with the list line by line.

## The four disciplines

- [Men's artistic](/toronto-2015-gymnastics-qualification/mens-artistic): 57 places for 20 nations, and the one that changed hands.
- [Women's artistic](/toronto-2015-gymnastics-qualification/womens-artistic): 57 places for 22 nations, and a question the sources leave open.
- [Rhythmic](/toronto-2015-gymnastics-qualification/rhythmic): 16 individual places and 5 groups of six.
- [Trampoline](/toronto-2015-gymnastics-qualification/trampoline): 8 men and 8 women from 7 nations.

## From Mississauga 2014 to Toronto 2015

**Gymnastics qualification for the 2015 Pan American Games, step by step**

| When | What | Where |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 20 Aug – 1 Sep 2014 | 2014 Pan American Gymnastics Championships, the only qualifying event, organised by Gymnastics Canada | Mississauga, Ontario |
| September 2014 | The union publishes four lists of places won, one per discipline | upag-gymnastics.com, /en/documentos/ |
| 11–15 July 2015 | Artistic gymnastics at the Games | Toronto Coliseum |
| 17–20 July 2015 | Rhythmic gymnastics | Toronto Coliseum |
| 18–19 July 2015 | Trampoline | Toronto Coliseum |

The Toronto Coliseum is the Ricoh Coliseum at Exhibition Place, renamed for the Games because of naming rights; it seated about 7,200 per session. Places belonged to national Olympic committees, not to gymnasts: each country chose who filled them, and a country could decline a place so that it passed to the next in line.

## 176 places in six kinds

**Places at the 2015 Pan American Games by discipline**

| Kind of place | On the 2014 lists | As finally distributed | Nations |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Men's artistic | 57 | 57 | 20 |
| Women's artistic | 57 | 57 | 21 |
| Rhythmic individual | 16 | 16 | 10 |
| Rhythmic group | 30 | 30 | 5 |
| Trampoline men | 8 | 8 | 6 |
| Trampoline women | 8 | 8 | 6 |
| All gymnastics | 176 | 176 | 24 |

A nation could enter at most 22 gymnasts across the three disciplines: five men and five women in artistic gymnastics, a rhythmic group of six plus two individuals, and two gymnasts in each trampoline event. In artistic gymnastics, only a nation with five gymnasts could enter the team competition.

## Every nation's places

Canada and the United States filled the maximum of 22. The table follows Wikipedia's qualification summary, which is built on the Toronto 2015 sport technical manuals; a dash means no place.

## What changed between the lists and the Games

The lists themselves warned that places were not nominal and could be reassigned once nations confirmed or declined them. Two changes are recorded:

- **Men's artistic.** Costa Rica won two places but used one; the other went to Venezuela, which went to Toronto with three men. See [the men's list](/toronto-2015-gymnastics-qualification/mens-artistic#list-vs-final).
- **Women's artistic.** The final summary gives Chile a third place and Uruguay none, yet the published Toronto results include a Uruguayan gymnast. See [the women's list](/toronto-2015-gymnastics-qualification/womens-artistic#list-vs-final) for what the sources say.

The rhythmic and trampoline lists match the final distribution line for line.

## What the places produced

**Gymnastics medals at the 2015 Pan American Games, all disciplines**

| Nation | Gold | Silver | Bronze | Total |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| United States (USA) | 11 | 13 | 5 | 29 |
| Canada (CAN) | 5 | 3 | 6 | 14 |
| Brazil (BRA) | 3 | 2 | 5 | 10 |
| Colombia (COL) | 3 | 0 | 3 | 6 |
| Cuba (CUB) | 2 | 2 | 2 | 6 |
| Guatemala (GUA) | 1 | 0 | 1 | 2 |
| Mexico (MEX) | 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 |
| Dominican Republic (DOM) | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 |
| Venezuela (VEN) | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 |

9 of the 24 nations won a gymnastics medal in Toronto. Guatemala's two places — one man, one woman, both won through the all-around in Mississauga — brought the men's floor gold and the women's floor bronze.

## The four PDFs this domain published

The lists were one-page PDFs in Spanish named *Países clasificados a JP 2015* followed by the discipline code: MAG (men's artistic), GAF (*gimnasia artística femenina*), RYT (rhythmic) and TRA (trampoline). Wikipedia in English, Spanish and Portuguese cites them, and their old addresses on upag-gymnastics.com now lead to the matching page here. The Internet Archive kept copies on 12 September 2014:
