Toronto 2015 Women's Artistic Gymnastics Qualification

Toronto 2015 women's artistic gymnastics qualification was decided at the 2014 Pan American Championships in Mississauga. The union's September 2014 list gave 57 places to 22 nations: five each to the top eight teams, two each to teams 9 to 11, one each to eleven more. Later sources disagree on one line: whether Uruguay's place went to Chile.

The September 2014 list, line by line

The women's list is the most formal of the four: a letter dated September 2014 from the president of the union's women's technical committee to the union's president. It states that the places won are not nominal and may be reassigned once national Olympic committees confirm or decline them, and prints the basis of each line — Equipos 1-8, Equipos 9-11 and individuals by all-around ranking in Competition I.

How the 57 places were won

The pattern was the men's: five places for each of the top eight teams, two for each of teams 9 to 13, and seven individual places, one per nation, from the all-around. Only eleven nations entered the women's team competition, so the places meant for teams 12 and 13 moved to the individual route — eleven individual places instead of seven.

The sources disagree here. Wikipedia's qualification summary gives Chile three places and Uruguay none, explaining that only ten nations used the individual route so the ninth team gained a place. But the women's results from Toronto, as recorded by Wikipedia, list Uruguay's Debora Reis in the qualification round. We have not found an official entry list that settles it, so treat the Chile and Uruguay lines as unconfirmed.

Canada's all-around champion also won beam and floor and took bronze on vault. The single places won through the all-around in Mississauga brought medals too: vault silver for the Dominican Republic and floor bronze for Guatemala, while Venezuela's gymnast, second in the all-around in 2014, won silver on bars.
